Following his role in the current Daredevil: Born Again show, Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as antihero Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, in a Disney+ special presentation. This time around, Bernthal will not only star as the titular character, but also cowrite the special with Reinaldo Marcus Green, who will also helm the standalone special as director. Green is known for his work on King Richard and We Know This City.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bernthal hinted at a dark, violent adaption suitable for the character of the Punisher: „It‘s going to be dark; Frank has no interest in breaking out the darkness. […]It will not be Punisher-lite, I promise you that.”
