Following a report from IGN, Head of Respawn & Group GM for EA Studios Organization Vince Zampella confirmed the next Battlefield will be in a modern setting. He also suggested that 128 player maps will not be returning and that they are designing something more familiar to previous games. Zampella clearly stated that they are going back to classes for the series next installment instead of reusing Battlefield 2042’s specialists.
The return to franchise akin features marks a departure from EA’s latest Battlefield game. Battlefield 2042 offered ambitious 128-player maps and replaced the established class system with specialists. These changes proved unpopular with fans. Next to these factors the franchise’s latest installment released with many technical issues. But over time the studio behind the game – DICE – fixed many of the multiplayer shooter’s issues and put Battlefield 2042 back on track.
