To many people’s surprise, Hack won the Emmy for best comedy series over the Bear. Also Hack’s star Jean Smart received the Emmy for best actress in a comedy series. However, The Bear managed to top its last year record of altogether 11 wins this year. In yesterday’s award ceremony the show about a dysfunctional restaurant collected one Emmy for director Christopher Storer and three acting awards in the comedy series category. Jeremy Allen White won best actor, Ebon Moss-Barach scored best supporting actor and Liza Colón-Zayas took home best supporting actress.
Shogun accomplishes a landmine sweep with 18 overall wins. Two of the four Prime Time Emmy wins are for best drama series and best directing in a drama series. Hiroyuki Sanda as well as Anna Sawai win best actor and actress in a drama series, making them the first Japanese actors ever to win Emmys.
Baby Reindeer’s Richard Gard received two Emmys for his work as an actor and writer in a limited or anthology series. His co-star Jessica Gunning took home best supporting actress in this category. In addition to this, the show picked up the win for best limited or anthology series.
